Now more than ever, we need your volunteer assistance and
support to help us continue this exciting growth of our
“B.A.C.K. Packets” program here in the Midwest!
As we begin 2009… we now have this initiative of reaching out to
children in crisis in over 250 Wisconsin communities, plus, over
60 communities in Illinois… and trying to meet the demands for
this program as it expands throughout Illinois and into Michigan
& Minnesota. We have just formalized the placement of Rebecca
Thomas as our Michigan Executive Director to get that state up
and running! Plus, Minnesota is about to launch under the
Executive Director leadership of Kris Ackley, who is joining us
after a 12 year career with the National Credit Union Foundation!
Welcome to these two new neighboring states and we will do all
that we can to help you as you grow! And in a like manner, Iowa,
Missouri, Indiana and Ohio will be the next Midwest states that
we will expand into during 2009!!
Many of you have called and asked us how you could help out.
Well, we are glad that you asked:
1) You could approach your employer and ask if they would be
interested in doing a Company-wide book drive (see
Book Drive 101) or fund raising event.
2) You could contact one of your children’s Coaches ( from one
of the sports programs in your area) and see if some of the kids
would like to do a 2 to 4 hour service project where they would
come to one of our warehouses and stamp, sticker and sort the
Children’s books.
3) You could tell your Middle School or Elementary Teacher(s)
about the
Rock N Read program and see if they would like to get
involved.
4) You could give a
Tribute Gift
in “Honor of Someone you Know” or
for a “Special Anniversary Occasion” to WW & AH – R.E.A.C.H. a
Child and we will send out a card to that person showing that
you have given a gift on their behalf that would help reach out
to _____ Children in Crisis (Each Book given to a Child has a
cost/value of $5.00) So a $25.00 gift would bring 5 Children in
Crisis a book, a $50.00 gift would supply 10 Children in Crisis
with a book and so on.
5) You could invite us to your Service Club meeting(s) or Church
Service and have us speak to your group about the WW & AH
program in your area and help us grow into other communities as
well.
6) You and your friends could help out by participating in any
upcoming events posted on the website (Check it out monthly to
keep up on the news!).
One of our major volunteer goals is to be able to support this
initiative on an ongoing basis through the efforts of people,
like yourself, that have an interest in helping to reach out to
children in crisis with the gift of a book! So get involved
today… if you haven’t yet… and help us “Put a smile on the face
of a child in the time of need” in your community!
