Captain Larry Lutz, an airplane pilot for
Frontier
Airlines, will be our Aviation
Specialist and help recruit and coordinate the
volunteer pilots program.
Larry
Lutz was born in Madison, WI and moved to Chetek
in 1967. After high school he attended the
University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and
graduated in 1979 with a degree in Pharmacy. He
remained at the U of M Hospitals and Clinics as
an oncology pharmacist for most of his first
career. While there, he pursued the passion of
his life, aviation, by working as a flight
instructor. A big plus to working at the
hospital was having an unlimited supply of
physicians who wanted to learn to fly!
In 1997, after
listening to his heart, he decided to become an
airline pilot. He took a job as a Learjet pilot
with International Jet Aviation in Denver, CO.
This was a diverse flying experience, and
consisted of emergency medical, executive
charter, Donor Alliance, and cargo operations,
as well as extensive international and mountain
flying.
In 1999, he took
a job with Frontier Airlines, and is currently a
captain on the Airbus 320 aircraft. Larry is
type-rated in the Learjet, Boeing 737 and A320.
He has over 10,000 hours of flight time. He
currently resides with his wife, Cindy, in
Larkspur, CO.
He enjoys spending his free time hunting with his black lab Raven, playing guitar part-time in a 70's band, mountain biking and skiing. He also volunteers for Make a Wish Foundation and the Denver Dumb Friends League.
