I would like to introduce to you Scott Cimler, our Assistant Executive Director for Wisconsin and Rebecca Thomas, our Executive Director for Michigan. Both of these individuals are excited to get things going in their areas as well as developing a plan for the continuation and growth of the "B.A.C.K. Packets" programs and funding objectives. Likewise, we are working on developing a team of volunteers to guide the development in the Minnesosta area.
One wonderful story that I would like to share with you happened to us in late October...
I had been in contact with a 5th grade group of kids from Bedford Hills, New York through their adult leader, Cheryl Fischer. They had heard about us via the internet and wanted to do a "Book Drive" for us and donate the books to us to use in our programs. Well, they ended up sending out 6 boxes of children's books for us! And, as I got to think about it, I thought that it would be really awesome if we could get a program going in their own neighborhood.
So, I made a call to the Bedford Hills Police Department in New York and asked if they would be interested in becoming our "First" department in New York to get involved! They thought that this was a great idea and were thrilled to be able to become a part of the "B.A.C.K. Packets" program.

I decided it would be a wonderful idea to involve these 5th grade students in on the presentation of the "B.A.C.K. Packets" to the Police department and officers. So, we mailed out two boxes containing 14 red backpacks to Cheryl Fischer for her and the students to deliver to the department, that way the students would be able to see first hand just how their efforts had made a difference... and in their own backyards!! There is so much that we can learn from 5th graders!
Please review the attached letters that these students wrote to the Police officers... thanking them for their efforts in reaching out to children in crisis!
